Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani (shortened BITS Pilani or BITS) is an Indian institute of higher education and a deemed university under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. The university has 15 academic departments, and focuses primarily on undergraduate education in engineering and the sciences and on its management programme.
The institute was established in its present form in 1964. During this period, the institute's transformation from a regional engineering college to a national university was backed by G.D. Birla. BITS has established centres at Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad and Dubai.
Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra (BIT Mesra) is an Indian institute of higher education and a deemed University under Section 3 of the UGC Act. It was established in the year 1955 at Mesra, Ranchi in the state of Jharkhand, India by the philanthropist and industrialist Late Shri. B. M. Birla. The institute was later headed by Late Shri G.P Birla and the present chairman of the board of governors is Shri C.K Birla.
The main campus at Mesra is a wholly residential campus. Following the establishment of the main campus in Mesra, extension centres have been established in several regions of India including Jaipur, Noida, Kolkata, Patna, Ranchi, and Deoghar as well as offshore centres in Ras al-Khaimah, UAE and Muscat, Oman.
Every year students are admitted strictly based on Merit assessed by All India Rank(AIR) in JEE-Main-CSAB and AIPMT for its UG courses.
Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), informally VIT University, formerly Vellore Engineering College is a private deemed university institute located in the outskirts of Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. Founded in 1984, as Vellore Engineering College, by G. Viswanathan, the institution offers 20 undergraduate, 34 postgraduate, four integrated and four research programs. It has campuses in Vellore and Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Bhopal(Madhya Pradesh), and Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), India. N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and M. Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice-president of India (then a Union Minister), participated in the foundation ceremony of the Amaravati campus of VIT. Foundation stone for VIT Bhopal campus at Sehore, Madhya Pradesh was laid down by Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh) on 20 October 2016.
KSRM Institute of Science and Technology, or Sri Ramaswamy Memorial Institute of Science and Technology, formerly SRM University, is a deemed university located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It was founded in 1985 as SRM Engineering College in Kattankulathur, under University of Madras. It has 8 campuses, 4 in Tamil Nadu — Kattankulathur, Ramapuram, Vadapalani, Tiruchchirappalli and others in Delhi NCR, Sonepat, Gangtok and Amaravati.
The institute gained deemed status during the 2003-2004 academic year and was renamed SRM Institute of Science and Technology. It became SRM University in 2006 following the permission by the UGC for Deemed to be Universities to be called as Universities. In 2017 it was renamed back as SRM Institute of Science and Technology following the UGC request to drop the "University" from the name.
Manipal Academy of Higher Education, formerly branded as Manipal University, is a private research institute deemed to be university located in the university town of Manipal, Karnataka, India. Manipal Academy of Higher Education has sister universities in Dubai, Mangalore, Sikkim, and Jaipur. It is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. In 1953, T.M.A. Pai founded India's first private medical school, Kasturba Medical College,and five years later the Manipal Institute of Technology was formed. Ramdas Pai took over the management in 1979 after Pai's death. Initially all degrees were awarded by Karnatak University Dharwad and later Mysore University. From 1980 to 1993 they were awarded by Mangalore University.
